hello, my name is Natasha & I am coming to King's next week to do History. I'm going to be living in King's College Hall, is anyone else from here going to be living there? Also, can someone tell me more about these halls, what is the transport like? I heard they were in an unsafe area but I'm not sure if that is true or not. Kind of annoyed though, I applied for accomodation in January & it was my last choice! oh well.

great social scene (great bar, canteen means you meet loads of people) but the area is a bit dangerous yes, and the transport means it'll take about a 45min bus to get to Strand campus. but it's a great place to be a first year regardless.

ah cheers, I'm going to have to get up so early if I have a 9am lecture :( are there night buses?

well it depends on your course- what are you doing?, you may not have to wake up that early. for philosophy at least, none of our lectures started before 10am :).

the 68 and the 176 are both night buses as well so it's no problem to get back after a night out.

kch is fantastic: it's the most social halls, and you'll love the parties and such... look out for the food, some of it can be a bit dodgy, but mostly it's all marvellous.

176 is a bus sent straight from heaven - it's 24hours and goes straight to kch from oxford street/tottenham court road (good for nights out round soho) as well as a nice easy journey to strand/waterloo campuses.... and 68 too! You'll get used to doing the corner dash across the road because they stop at different stops, but it's part of the fun.

The area isn't really unsafe... it's south east london, and it's what you'd expect: a bit rough around the edges with a million dodgy pound shops and kebab places, but as long as you know where you're going/what you're doing, it's fine.

Let me know if you need anything - sometimes they don't sort the buddy thing out properly, and it's nice to have someone in the year above to help you out if you need. Good luck - you'll have a great time ! xx
